 Mammograms

Mammograms (x-ray examination looking for breast cancer) are performed in the Breast Screening Unit that visits our Car Park every year. An appointment for a mammogram is sent out automatically, every 3 years, to women between the ages of 50 and 64. The mammography service calls up women by rotating through a list of GP surgeries, so you may not actually have your first mammogram until you are 53 if our surgery has recently been screened.

After the age of 64 women are no longer automatically called for screening. However, by phoning The Breast Screening Service on            for the breast screening unit and requesting a mammogram, women of 64 and over will be given an appointment. There is no need for a referral letter. Screening is usually done every three years.
