Parentcraft classes

These are organised by the midwives. You will be offered
parentcraft classes when you attend the hospital ante-natal
booking appointment. Usually these classes are held midway
through the pregnancy and both you and your partner should
attend. The midwives and health visitors running the classes will
talk to you about pregnancy and labour and also about looking
after your new baby. They will explain what options you have for
delivering your baby and what types of pain relief are available.
If this is a second or subsequent pregnancy, you will be offered
a refresher class. The parentcraft classes are well worth
attending; they give you information and confidence. You have an
opportunity to meet other mothers and can exchange ideas. If you
have particular worries then you can share these with others and
discuss them with a midwife.
